ANAHEIM DUCKS' TOP FIVE SELLING ASSETS

The last-placed Anaheim Ducks has players of value in the trading market. Adam Proto lists five Ducks that could fly elsewhere by the NHL trade deadline.
The Anaheim Ducks have been one of the NHL's biggest disappointments this season - their current 6-15-1 record is the worst in the entire league - and they'll almost certainly start shedding non-core assets as a result. the highest bidder before the end of the auction period.
Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek is in his first full season with the team, and he will be one of the go-tos for any colleague looking to bolster their playoff roster.
Which Ducks players can be moved? Below you will find five of Anaheim's most popular assets:

ADAM ENRIQUE

Age: 32
2022-23 Notable stats: 7 goals, 12 points in 21 games
Contract: $5.825 million, signed through 2023–24.
Likely asking price: 3rd round draft pick, low to mid-level prospect.
Inside: Enrique is more than just a loan player with one more season on his contract after this year. But he has enough left in the tank to bail out a playoff contender, especially if Verbeek keeps part of his paycheck. A team like the New York Islanders or the Colorado Avalanche would happily take Enrique on board and they wouldn't have to sacrifice everything for a trade. His move won't be so much a loss of pay as it will give more time and opportunity to one of Anaheim's young forwards.

FRANK VATRANO

Age: 28 years old
2022-23 Notable stats: four goals, seven points in 22 games
Contract:   $3.65 million, signed through 2024–25.
Likely asking price: High 2nd round pick or low 1st round pick.
The Bottom Line: Vatrano is in the first year of a three-year, $10.95 million contract he signed with Anaheim last summer, and at 28, he's young enough to be part of a better team in the longer term. Last spring, Vatrano also played well in the postseason with the New York Rangers (5 goals, 13 points in 20 games). His confidence in price makes him more attractive than Enrique, but Verbeek probably wants too much for him. Will the Rangers take him on a second tour of Manhattan? Strange things happened.

DMITRY KULIKOV

Age: 32
2022-23 Notable stats: five assists, seven points and an average time on ice of 21:04 in 22 games.
Contract:   $2.25 million, unrestricted free agent this summer
Likely asking price: Fourth-round pick or average prospect
Lowdown:Kulikov is one of three Ducks blueliners who could get new homes before the end of this season. He's been bouncing around the league for a while now — the Ducks are his sixth team since the 2016-17 season — but as a deep acquisition, he's checking out a lot of teams in need of help in the background. He played more time in Anaheim than with a legitimate Cup contender, but that won't improve the quality of the assets he'll return in any trade. Kulikov has an amended no-trade clause — according to Cap Friendly, he can submit a list of eight teams he wouldn't agree to trade with — but he's spinning his wheels with canards. He can still contribute to a much better team that requires less of him, and he is the Ducks D-man that will cost a trading partner the least.

KEVIN SHATTENKIRK

Age: 33
2022-23 Notable stats: Five points and 17:34 average time on ice in 18 games.
Contract:   $3.9 million, unrestricted free agent this summer
Likely Asking Price: Mid-high pick in the second round of the draft.
Bottom Line: Shattenkirk has a one-year championship pedigree with the Tampa Bay Lightning, but he's showing all the years of wear this season. He is no longer a dynamic offensive force, but last season with Anaheim he had 27 assists and 35 points. Teams that lost in the draw to John Klingberg (more on him below) and Jakob Chichran will be looking for a player like Shattenkirk to bolster their defense, and he won't cost anyone a prospect or a first-round draft pick. . Like Kulikov, Shattenkirk has a modified no-trade clause, but the list of teams that Shattenkirk cannot deal with is 12 teams. A franchise looking for a powerplay specialist could do much worse in the trading market than Shattenkirk.

JOHN KLINGBERG

Age: 30
2022-23 Notable stats: seven assists and eight points, 22:57 average ice time in 20 games.
Contract:   $7 million, unrestricted free agent this summer
Likely asking price: First-round pick, above-average prospect
Inside Story: Klingberg signed a one-year contract with Anaheim last summer, knowing full well he could be transferred before the deadline. His amended no-move clause includes a full no-move clause until the New Year. After that, he can submit a list of 10 teams that he can refuse to exchange. This still leaves quite a few interested trading partners for his services, and as an accurate defender capable of accumulating above-average attacks, he has an asking price that will be the highest for the Ducks. After Chichran and fellow Arizona Coyote Shane Gostisbeher, Klingberg will be the biggest proven player in the trading block and is almost guaranteed to be pushed by Verbeek.
